Factors to the Withdrawing of Life Sustaining Treatment among Low Income Elderly

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to identify factors related to the suspension of life sustaining treatment among low income elderly. Data were collected from 529 elderly in the National Basic Livelihood Security System in Jeollabuk do. Collected data were analyzed by frequency, t-test, multiple regression. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, face consciousness were significantly related to the suspension of life sustaining treatment. financial satisfaction were significantly related to the life sustaining treatment. Second, more higher depression were significantly related to the suspension of life sustaining treatment. Third, more higher death anxiety were significantly related to the life sustaining treatment. Fourth, financial satisfaction were significantly related to the suspension of life sustaining treatment. Based on these findings supported the importance of death with dignity, advanced medical directives and well-dying in mental health social work field. Further studies are needed to develop and proposed future research.
